Prompts: journaling with lists

A great idea to write something that will make memories and at the same time require little ingenuity on your part is to journal with lists. It's really easy to do, provided you have some prompts. Which I am including here. So the next time you feel a little burned out, use these lists. (They are not all mine; some of them I found somewhere else and tweaked them a bit.)
  • 5 of my favorite vacations
  • 10 people I really admire
  • My top 5 short term/long term goals
  • 7 of my favorite movies
  • 8 things I should not have eaten this week (which for me would include Mexican carry-out and sweets :P)
  • My favorite lines from movies
  • 6 of my favorite websites
  • 4 of my best memories

This is my list of "new ideas of books to write" on April 2007

My favorite names for future kids in 2007. The funny thing is, none of these names are on my current list.

My list of places I would love to visit

My fall playlist

My list of foreign films I have seen (the countries)

So the possibilities are endless. Lists are fun!

Can you think of any lists to add?

Each night I write my 'Happy List' of at least three good things that have happened to me that day. I write reading lists, goals of things to get done before a certain time, and favourite recipes, plus crafts I want to try. And a lot more. I like lists.

Wow, what a really great idea! I had never thought of doing something like that in my journal, and always stuck to the traditional entry format, but I think I'm going to start doing this a lot more.

A list that I would probably include would be Current Family Catch-Phrases, or things like that.

Thanks!

That's a good idea. I've done this in the past, but forgot about it. At the moment I have a hard time writing in my journal. I can't concentrate and most of my entries are just a few lines of nothing. I always start writing something and then I can't concentrate anymore and leave it unfinished :(
Maybe I should try the list thing again...
Long time ago I made a list of "5 impossible dreams". Things that will never come true, like "I wish I could meet all the people I made up for my stories". It was fun to write this list :)

Libby~That is an excellent idea!

Miss Eyebright~I highly recommend them. ;)

Antonia~Yeah, sometimes journaling gets like that, and lists are a great way to get back in line. ;)

Your handwriting is so imaginative and crafty! What I do everyday is: the Bummers that day, the highlights of that day,the book I was reading that day,the movie we watched at night and what school work I did that day. It's half log half diary :) Sierra

I love to use lists when I feel like writing but feel as though I don't know what I want to write about. The lists always jump start me.

These are all wonderful ideas... So good, in fact, that I would get carried away and scribble for pages! : ) I'm just trying to figure out how to keep up with noting events in my life...

Kazakhstan does sound like an interesting place to visit. For such a big country, it gets very little press; maybe because it is fairly culturally isolated?

I keep daily "to do" lists, in my journal, ideas for art projects, lists of authors I want to read, poem ideas, blog post ideas, places with potential for artist dates, and gratitude lists! My journal is my catch-all for life.
